The Story Behind

My hair is almost always tied up. I knew silk was the gentlest thing I could wrap around it, yet every silk scrunchie I tried loosened and stretched out after only a few wears. In 2019, I set out to make the one I couldn't find: pure silk around an elastic that keeps its hold, wear after wear. That little scrunchie became the beginning of HoneyLux, and everything we've made since started with it.

Most HoneyLux accessories are made using rare premium-quality organic silk, the highest grade (6A) of pure 22momme mulberry silk. Our clips are made from plant-based acetate, an eco-friendly material made from cotton and wood pulp.

Is silk different than satin?

Silk is a natural fiber from silkworms, renowned for its softness, breathability, and radiant sheen, creating a luxurious feel against the skin.

Satin, however, refers to a weaving technique and is usually made from polyester. Many confuse satin for silk, but satin carries more disadvantages than benefits. chemicals in polyesters can be harsh on the skin and hair, especially with prolonged use. due to its absorbent and heat-trapping properties, satin pulls water and oils from skin and hair, leaving you with more frizz, dryness and breakage, and promotes bacterial and allergen growth.

Ultimately, silk embodies timeless luxury, while polyester satin simply offers a superficial shine.
